About Live Real

"Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
and let's change the way we treat each other."
-Tupac Shakur

It’s happening in schools, on farms, and in neighborhoods.  Across the country, people are choosing real food over junk food, planting gardens and creating local food stores, and demanding dignity for all farmers and workers.

Live Real was created to unify and amplify this movement, as a platform for young people across the US to shape a radically different food system through policy and practice.

We unite communities on the front lines of our broken food system - from farmworkers struggling for justice in the fields of Florida, to Detroit youth growing food in urban lots, and indigenous families using their traditional knowledge in Arizona.  We're all hurt by the modern food system, and we're all trying to do something about it.

We are guided by a core value of respect: for all people, places, cultures, and the earth.  We believe in real health and real justice for all.  We know that the system is broken, but that its up to all of us to change it - to live real.

To make our vision a reality, we realized that we needed to:

1. BE THE CHANGE- Lead by example. All of us can do something in our daily lives to respect ourselves, each other, and the earth.

2. GROW OUR COMMUNITY. Connect across our differences, share our stories, and find allies.

3. GET ORGANIZED! Change is hard—but it is possible when we act together.  Get involved.

That’s what Live Real is about.  Together, we are working towards a world where real food is the norm—not the exception—from the corner store to Capital Hill.

Join us by sharing your commitment today!

Live Real was created by a whole bunch of people.  It is a program of Real Food Generation, a fiscally sponsored project of Third Sector New England.
